The Humans
The unfortunate few who crossed through the gate of worlds and ended up in The Kingdom. On a quest to find Dorian and get Xavier's brother's luck back, they find far more than they bargained for in this strange, twisted reality.
Jollyplus Gise
Species: Not as human as he thinks...
Role: Quester
Bio: A graffiti artist in the human world and a relatively well know subculture figure for his works, Xavier, his girlfriend Marcheline and his brother inadvertently enter the Kingdom when they attempt to find the mysterious pale gentleman with the amazing string of luck that cost them a fortune, and Xavier's brother's luck
That gentleman turned out to be Dorian, Prince of the Kingdom, and hunting him down proves to be a lot harder than it looks... Especially when the King is determined to keep you there! But why?

The Royal Family
Forestforms are the purest sentient expression of the dark forest that makes up The Kingdom. Born with animal traits, they use their keen senses to help ward and protect their home and the citizens who dwell within it...
Soom Spinel
Species: Forestform- No animal trait
Role: Prince
Bio: The Gentleman of Misfortune. He's the eldest of the royal family, but seeing he's fully, indisputably human in appearance with no animal trait, he was disinherited in favour of his younger, hooved and horned brother Magnus. A fact Magnus is never tardy in reminding him.
Gifted with the ability to manipulate the luck of anyone aside himself and his direct family members, he's more often found in one of the four outer realms gambling and drowning his bitterness in drink, women and money.
Soom MD Appini
Species: Forestform- Feline animal trait
Role: Princess
Bio: Princess Lalana is the younger sister of King Magnus and Prince Dorian and can't put a paw wrong in their eyes.
Born with and unusually large amount of animal trait, she behaves more like a kitten than a human and does the things most kittens would do. Sleeps in unusual places, chases small things, chews up paper and wool... except this kitten is the size of a child.
Though it amuses both the King and the Prince, it definitely annoys the faeries, Minions and smaller members of the palace.

The Castle Staff
Palace functionaries, personal servants, minions alike, they;re a specific kind of creature called a Fee (or Fae, pronunciation depends on what part of the forest you originated from) They were the original non animal inhabitants, devoted with their entire being to serving the forest. This devotion has carried over to the Forestform Kings and Queens, the sentiant expression of the forest, and they are now bred for specific roles by their Forestform rulers.
Fairyland PukiFee Ante

Role: Tea Fairy
Bio: The tea fairy to the royal family, Elsie's speciality is cakes, tea parties, jammy tarts and cucumber sandwiches.
She's suitably obsessed with all things well presented and sweet, and the delight of her day is an approving nod from one of the Royal family for a tea platter well presented.
She's a sweet little fairy, (unlike most of the others in her clutch) but is easily frightened and upset... or at least she appears that way.... there is a suspicion going around that her tears and screams are actually a very sneaky way of avoiding being the brunt of Isis' mechanisms and Osiris' practical jokes.

Role: Witches Apprentice
Bio: A little girl that would give Wednesday Addams a run for her money.
Apprenticed to the court witch, Kida-Lin Gen's quiet, studious and has one hell of a talent for voodoo. Her constant companion is Voodoo teddy, who she quite happily uses on whomever annoys her the most.
As apprentice she does most of the menial spells around the castle.

Role: King's Attendant
Bio: One of the two silent attendants to King Magnus, Avery lives to fluff pillows, brush hair, polish hooves and anything else his master may need.
He CAN speak, but does only softly and rarely, usually to his fraternal twin Evainne his "strange" brother Icarus or, of course, to the Master, but most chatter is done through a mental link with his siblings. This allows him (and his sister) to go about their duties without bothering his Majesty

Bio: He's an incubus, which sounds like a pretty awesome thing to be... but that's where you'd be severely mistaken. Unfortunately, an incubus is bound to cater to the desires of females. They feed off sexual energy, but it's rarely actually obtained, as most women desire a back rub, chocolate, a nice hot cup of tea etc. instead, so whatever they want (within his abilities) he provides...
Adriel attends the court, but he's half wild, so he isn't bound by the court rules, or tied to the king's whims. but he's useful, which is why the King bred his little double, Batu.

Role: Spell Patterner and Minion Minder
Bio: There is nothing ladylike about Alex. She's a drinking, belching, swearing tattoo artist with a passion for rockabilly, meat and roller derby.
Despite her rough edges, or because of them, the King hires her to look after the troublesome minions. Her spell patterns are also unequalled, whether they be in chalk on the ground, in paint on canvas or on skin, so she makes a fair deal selling her services too.
Not bound to the court, she's more amicable than most unbound, and can be hired for a case of Budweiser.

The workers in the castle aren't always willing. Slaves are fairly prevalent... Slaves from different dimensions, slaves from the heart of the woods- known as "the Zone", blackmailed slaves, bribed slaves, and magically bound slaves... Not all of them resent their life either, but most of them are quite unwilling...

Bio: An ethereal creature from the deep dark woodland only known as "The Zone", a place hunted by the royal family- not for game, but slaves!
Chen is a creature entirely devoted to his own pleasures, be they food, drink, women, men, money, entertainment...
He was captured by Mati. No one really knows Why Mati specifically caught Chen, though it's a popular belief it was simply so she could have someone really tall to carry her around.
Chen must be kept on a very strict guard....
Iplehouse Gentle Akando
Species: Djinni
Role: King's personal wish granter.
Bio: Like the rest of his kind, Quinn was born into slavery. All Djinni are tied to their lamps and then to the people who find them. They have phenomenal powers, but are limited to the imaginations of those who have their wishes granted.
Quinn ended up in Magnus' possession as an ambassadorial peacekeeping gift from a neighboring Kingdom. The shrewd Magnus was clever enough not to wish for more wishes, but instead wished for eternal servitude... which is practically the same thing- but worded sneakily enough to get around the clause.
Although technically a slave Quinn has few issues with his position. He's never been out of his lamp for this long, and for a guy this built a teeny lamp can get a little cramped after awhile!
Dollzone Hid

Role: Spy master's inventor
Bio: An ethereal creature from the deep dark woodland only known as "The Zone", a place hunted by the royal family- not for game, but slaves!
Hamish broke one of the most fundamental laws of the forest... when venturing close to the edges of the dark forest heart that preserves his kind, he espied a light and beautiful sylph quite enthralled by her own inventing. His own passion for inventions and building kindled an interest, not only in her creation but the beauty herself. He risked much and approached her, and soon love kindled.
It was their love that lead to his-and his lovers- capture and enslaved by Isis, King's spy master. binding him with the metal the Zone cannot resist and blackmailing his lover with threats to tell the King of her highly illegal, punishable dalliance with a Zone- which also keeps Hamish in check.

The Unwelcome
Isis Fae made a break into the dark continuum known as Pipos after seeing Kida Lin teach Genevieve. Through that rift came several of the demons usually summoned as familiars... but these are unrestrained! Making menaces of themselves, they add a little chaos to the castle...

Outside the castle, there live a huge array of people, traders, performers, sprites, fauns... heaps of beings! Here are the ones that appear in the story...
ResinSoul Mei
Species: Elemental
Role: Trader
Bio: Resoul is the Kingdom word for "Elemental" so it's not so much a last name as a species.
Minu is an earth elemental, specifically attuned to non sentient growing things, plants, flowers, fungi, trees... She's a gentle, if somewhat perplexing conversationalist. She only speaks in third person and has a very strange view on things, often sounding a little fluffy.
She wanders the kingdom selling herbs, stones, powders and bits and pieces. Often seen at the palace with Kida-Lin
She has a suitor, Dillon, who comes from a far off land to see her.
